Joe and Ed’s story

Once upon a time there was a little red school house on an island. In the school there was lots of kids and a teacher named Ms. Chalk. There are a lot of students in the class too. There is an eraser, a pencil, a notebook, a chair, a piece of paper and other basic school supplies. they all get along. they have normal classes like science, math, art, language arts, and all the other classes. The main character is the pencil and his name is Pete. Pete’s good friends are Ethan the eraser, Penny the paper, Nate the notebook. But throughout the year, Roy the Ruler has been bullying Pete and his friends with crew of markers. One day the students go on a field trip to the mountains nearby the school. They look around the mountains and eat lunch for a while. They have a good trip and it was fun but like always Pete gets bullied by Roy. After a while they walk back to the school. But when they were about to leave Roy left the group! After they get back and the teacher takes roll and resizes they left Roy! They are about to go back but Pete says “No he’s a good for nothing bully!” The teacher kicks him out of class for saying that. As he’s out he meets the janitor of the school, a wise old mop he said his name is Mark. Mark teaches him to forgive the bully and go find him and bring him back. Mark also teaches Pete how to navigate through the mountains to find the others. He shows him things like how to make a fire and how to use the sun light to navigate places. He goes back to class and apologizes for what he said. So they get what they need and gear up to go look for Roy. They re trace their steps to him. But just as they start getting kind of far they run into a computer! He wanted to eat them!! Remembering some of the things that Mark the janitor taught him he finds a big stick and stabs the computer through the screen. “Yaaaay!!!” everyone cheered he saved them! They keep going to look for Roy. After a while they’re deep into the mountains and its almost night so they decide to camp out. When morning comes they start to get ready but it rained over night and Penny dissolved!! Pete and the other kids cry. This is a terrible ordeal. after a while of grieving they bury Penny and continue looking for Ethan. They travel further and see an eraser mark on a couple trees “were close!!” They see some more further on. Meanwhile Ethan is sitting on a big rock wondering if they will ever come back for him when he looks across the way and sees them walking! He yells at them and starts running at them. When they hear him they run at him too. Its a happy moment and they’re so glad they found him!! Ethan is happy but dirty and hungry! They start heading back to the school right away. Ethan is weak so they take turns carrying him back to the school. Ethan is being nice too he apologizes for being a bully and they become friends. Pete realizes that he needs to cherish his life. It takes a while for them to get back to the school and after they do they start to take care of Ethan. A few days later they hold a ceremony honoring Pete and the others for their bravery and going back to find Ethan.  THE END

Hero’s Journey Stages 9-12

Stage 9- Reward: This stage is where the story allows the hero and audience to temporarily relax from the relentless pace of the ordeal. The hero can celebrate and the hero probably gained new knowledge from completing the journey. An example is from Star Wars at the end of number 6 the heros are celebrating around the fire.

Stage 10-The Road Back: The road back is as an upward climb back to the ordinary world. The hero must go back to help the people in the village or the villain might still be alive so he needs to defeat him again. An example of this stage is in the movie the fantastic four the villain isn’t dead and comes back to life so they have to defeat him again.

Stage 11- Resurrection: This is where the hero has learned a valuable lesson or something to make him a better person, this gives the hero a new outlook/advantage. An example is from the movie Harry Potter when at the end he realizes who he is as a person and what he should do with his life.

Stage 12-Return with the Elixir: This stage is where the hero gets back to the ordinary world has changed and the hero needs to do something. An example of this is from the movie Lord of the rings when after they get back home, Sam realizes he cant waist his time and talks to the girl he always wanted to talk to.

Hero’s Journey Stage’s 5-8

Stage 5- Threshold Guiardian: the threshold guardian is someone or something stopping the hero from starting the mission, an example is from the movie Bend it Like Beckam when the main character cant play soccer becuase her parents wont let her so her parents are the guardians.

Stage 6- Test, Allies, and Enemies: This stage is where the enemy of the hero and main antagonist is introduced, also where the hero might have to go through a test in the new world. Example of a hero going through a test is in the movie Rocky when he is training for his fight, the test is if he can run up all the stairs or do a number of reps in the weightroom.

Stage 7- Approach to the inmost cave: This is called the inmost cave becuase its the most important place to the hero, its where his main goal is. An example is from the movie Clash of the Titans where the main character has multiple thresholds but the inmost cave is where he fights Medusa for the goal, her head.

Stage 8-The Ordeal: This stage is where the hero will change by a symbolic death that will alter the heros journey forever. Maybe the mentor or a close friend will die, this is kind of the midpoint of the story. An example is from the movie star wars when Yoda dies its a great loss for Luke .

Hero’s Journey Stages 1-4

Stage 1-The Ordinary World: This is where the beginning of the story takes place and everything is normal, no conflict. An example of the ordinary world is from the movie harry Potter when he’s living with his family in London.

Stage 2- The call to the Adventure: This stage is when the hero is still in the ordinary world but has a calling to do a mission or adventure. An example is from the movie 2012 when the world starts to get destroyed, the main character realizes he has to save his family.

Stage 3-Refusal of the Call: This stage is when the hero doesn’t accept the adventure, hero doesn’t go usually because they’re life is good now, or they’re scared. In The Simpson’s Movie, bart refuses to help save the town because hes mad a t them for chasing his family out of springfield.

Stage 4- The Mentor: This stage is where the hero gets a mentor, the mentor shows him how to do things, without the mentor he wouldn’t be able to achieve the mission. The best example is from the movie Star Wars when Yoda takes luke under his wing and teaches him how to be a jedi.

Texting and Driving

Writing prompt: Paragraph 1-If you were a congress man or women, compose a law that would be reasonable concerning texting and driving. Paragraph 2-Contrast and compare drinking and driving with texting and driving. Paragraph 3-Design a plan that would reduce the use of texting while driving.

If i was a congress man i would make a law against texting while driving because it’s very dangerous. My law would make texting while driving illegal to all drivers. I would do this because it doesn’t matter how old you are, its still a dangerous thing to text and drive. A 60 year old doesn’t have any more of a reason to text while driving than a 16 year old. The punishments for being caught will be a fine of 140 dollars and 2 points on the drivers’ license. If texting caused an accident the fine would rise to 300 dollars. These punishments will hopefully scare people away from texting while driving,  i guess the thought of dying didn’t work so far. This is my law and its requirements.
Drinking and texting while driving are both very dangerous and illegal  things to do. Drinking and driving as a law is enforced a lot more in the US, it’s punishments are worse also. People get into more accidents because of drinking and driving because the drivers struggle to keep control of the car and will most likely reck. Also the punishments are a lot more harsh, people can serve time in jail, get huge fines and some get their license taken away. Texting while driving is almost as dangerous because like driving under the influence, you can easily loose control of the car because your not paying attention. Drivers who text and drive are hardly ever caught, the campaign against it is a lot less popular than drinking and driving is. Even though they are different things, these too activities are very dangerous and wrong.
A good plan to reduce texting while driving would be to follow AT&T’s approach and get people aware of the dangers. One thing i would do is try to get advertisements on texting and driving all over TV and the radio. This would make people see that texting and driving is a lot more of a risk than they might think. The reason drinking and driving is enforced so much is because its so popular and people understand how bad it is. Also the advertisements would show things like totally destroyed cars, statistics and studies on texting and driving, that type of thing to get people to stop. These advertisements would defiantly help reduce texting and driving, AT&T has a good idea.
